1. Why are these pillows shaped like they are?
Each pillow-end is sized and shaped to nestle the nape of the neck or the small of the back. The shaft, or “neck,” as we usually call it, allows the device to be draped over a seat back. The neck is hollow so the loose filler can be transferred to adjust the fullness of the pillow ends.
Note the Body Prop pillow has one bulbous end and one concave end, whereas the discontinued Bone pillows had two bulbous ends.

2. How do I use a Body Prop® pillow?
1. Drape Body Prop® over your seat with the non-slip fabric face down.
2. Select either the bulbous or concave pillow end and position it where you want it (behind the head, neck, back, etc.).
3. If necessary, adjust the level of support (fullness or flatness) by transferring the buckwheat-hull filler through the hollow neck.
4. Get comfortable!

3. How is Body Prop® different from other portable pillows?
1. It hangs over your seat instead of on your shoulders like other neck pillows.
2. It stays in place and doesn’t slide away when you move.
3. It’s adjustable three ways: for position, size, and firmness.
5. It’s easily portable because there are no straps or fixatives to keep it in place.
4. It doesn’t make you hot, not only because you don’t wear it, but also because the natural filler allows air to flow through it.
There are lots of other differences, but this covers the main ones.
In the “before” photo at right, see the void of space behind her neck in this Lincoln Continental? That “void” can cause strain because there’s no neck support.
4. How does it stay in place?
Our Body Prop® pillows are patented because they are unique, and one of those unique features is the non-slip material used to help it stay in place. It’s on the underside of the pillow and resists slipping on most surfaces. If it starts to slip, it helps to clean the non-slip material with a damp cloth, because a dirty or dusty coating will reduce its effectiveness. The counterweight effect of the pillow ends also helps the Body Prop® stay in place. Overall, you may occasionally need to make small adjustments depending on your seat and usage, but it’s very non-intrusive and easy to use.
Since it stays in place without straps or fixatives, it’s easily portable. Drape it over your arm or luggage and take it along when traveling.
5. What is the buckwheat hull filler?
The buckwheat hulls in our pillows are grown and processed in the USA. They are 100% natural, organically grown without pesticides or herbicides, air-cleaned, and considered hypoallergenic. Buckwheat hulls are light and malleable so they contour to your shape and air flows through them, helping to keep you cool and comfortable. 6. Can I sleep with it?
Body Prop® is designed as an upright pillow, not a bed-type pillow. It’s supportive on the bulbous end — not squishy — so it will hold your head at the angle you set. It’s more contouring and squishy on the concave end, so you choose whichever level of support you want at the time and easily change or adjust it. It’s not necessarily intended for sleeping, but if you were going to sleep against it, you’d probably prefer to use the concave end. Further, the product is a dichotomy because it encourages either alertness OR relaxation, because: 1) Comfort and support can help you be more alert by removing distraction from your discomfort; OR 2) comfort and support can make you more relaxed by allowing easy comfort.

7. Will it affect other people who use the same chair?
Body Prop® pillows are simple to customize or remove. If another person has different needs, they can adjust it on-the-fly. Easy.

8. Can it affect or improve my posture?
Ergonomic support that’s tailored to your body allows you to maintain your natural spinal curve and save your posture. Sitting for a long time can cause lower back pain due to slouching. Body Prop® pillows encourage proper posture when used for any type of support, whether it’s lumbar, neck, shoulder, or other.
Use Body Prop® Classic (25-26″) on a high-back seat for head and neck support; or use it for lumbar support on a low-back seat (like an office task chair).
Use Body Prop® Long (37-38″) on high-back chairs for lumbar support, OR use as head and neck support on high-back chairs, especially recliners.
Tip: Lumbar support generally requires less filler than what you would need for neck support. If you can’t make it flat enough for lumbar support, you can remove filler through the zipper if desired.

9. I received it and it’s too thick. What can I do?
The buckwheat hull filler relaxes with use and the Body Prop® pillow may be too filled with filler when new. If it’s so full that you can’t shake enough filler out of the pillow-end you want to use, then you should remove some filler through the zipper opening as instructed on the hang tag on the packaging. Remember, Body Prop® pillows are unconditionally guaranteed for a year, so if it doesn’t suit your needs, you may return it for a full refund.

10. Why are there so many neck pillows on the market?
Your head is heavy! Holding it up can give you a sore neck, and since people continue to search for a solution, the headrest and neck pillow market continues to boom. For people who find our Body Prop® pillows, their search is likely over.

Note: If you want to sit more “straight up” in a chair that’s angled back like the one shown at right, Body Prop® will be unobtrusive. This means you can leave it on the chair all the time and use it when you want it and ignore it when you don’t.
11. How do I know it will fit my chair? Can I see samples on different seats?
See this blog post for an illustrated answer to this question
Body Prop® Classic (revised from Headbone®) is about 26″ long and will reach the lumbar region on low- to mid-height chairs as shown in question #8 above.
Body Prop® Long (revised from Backbone™) is about 38″ and will reach the lumbar region on high-back seats as shown.
Some people have recliners with a very thick or deep seat back, and they should measure the depth of the seat to determine whether they should use the Long or Classic length for their seat.
Again, see this blog post for an illustrated answer to this question
To determine which size is best for your recliner or seat, first understand that the shaft of the pillow needs to span the top of the seat, and still have some pillow length hanging over each end. The Classic shaft length is about 11 inches; the Long shaft length is about 23 inches.
12. What can I expect when I order?
